A common question from customers during a major storm is, “Do utilities turn off the power on purpose?

LCEC does not disconnect power before a storm. Mother Nature runs her course and LCEC begins to restore power to impacted areas once winds are at a safe level for crews to work.

As the fierce winds on the back end of Hurricane Milton continue to impact SWFL, widespread outages are occurring, as expected. There are thousands of local and out-of-state line workers ready to respond as soon as it is safe to assess the damage and begin to make repairs to the system.

No need to call to report an outage at this time. Outage are tracked by the LCEC automated system and can be viewed here.
