On November 26, 2024, the Florida-Bahama Synod of the ELCA Church awarded Christ Lutheran Church, Cape Coral a Vision 2 Action Grant. V2A grants are awarded to help launch innovative ministries that invite people into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and expand the church.
In making the announcement, Grant Program Manager, Rev. Kathryn Carroll states, “We give thanks to God for your vision and applaud your “Sounds For The Soul” ministry.”
Vision 2 Action supports “out-of-the-box,” new ways of being church in a rapidly changing cultural landscape. This is the second year V2A Grants have been awarded. Thirty grants to churches and organizations in the Florida-Bahama Synod were made in the 2024 V2A Grant cycle. The grants awarded were as small as a few thousand dollars and as large as $40,000.
Christ Lutheran Church, Cape Coral’s project, “Sounds for the Soul,” presents a series of four, 60–90-minute musical events in the City of Cape Coral Cultural Park during the winter months. Music of all genres has been associated with religious and spiritual practices. From classical to gospel; from country to jazz; from Elvis to U2; music has been used to create emotions of praise, joy, reverence, prayer, celebration, hope, gratitude and more. However, today the message is often lost. “Sounds For The Soul’s” goal is to raise awareness of the message that can be found in much of the music we listen to in our everyday lives.
